Steampunk Meetups
One Sunday each month, 1 to 3 PM: Gather with other steampunks at the museum, exchange stories, show off your latest projects and find what what other steampunks are up to. This month we will feature another Steampunk Swap. Bring a steampunk item you no longer need and swap it with another steampunk for something you can use. Scavenge your closets and see what you have. Its a great way to get ready for spring cleaning and find some new pieces to add to your steampunk collection.
Dates Include: 3/11/2012, 4/15/2012, No May Meet Up, No June Meet Up

SHH… Quiet Day at the Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation
This event is designed for children with Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) common in Autism and other spectrum disorders. Children diagnosed with SPD have difficulty processing information from the senses and responding appropriately to that information. In a effort to make the museum comfortable for children and their family, the museum will be disable any exhibit that produces uncomfortable noise levels and have a equipment available to ensure a positive museum experience. The museum worked with two student interns from Milestones Day School and its administration to create this program and develop safeguards for families to feel comfortable. Their work has resulted in museum staff training, the purchasing of equipment such as sound block headphones and weighted blankets, and the creation of a separate space designed for reducing stimuli. This event is included with regular museum admission.
