Marketing: Primary responsibilities for this position are to provide assistance and support for the museum’s new marketing direction. The interns will also be responsible for the museum’s oversight of all W20 marking campaign.
Candidate will strategize and implement new marketing tools using the Internet and other media to advertise the museum’s ongoing programs, function rental and education programs, and general visitation. He / She will develop and implement the communication strategy for marketing to segmented populations using tools such as YouTube, face book, twitter, meetups, online blogs, magazines etc. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
- Excellent written communications skills
- Knowledge of internet marketing trends
- Ability to work independently and within a team setting
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
Candidates should be available to work a minimum of 8-20 hours per week and available for events that occur during that time period.
Events Development: Special Events Interns will assist in all levels of planning numerous special events, including dinner auctions, festivals, lectures and education programs. This internship will involve all aspects of event management, including, but not limited to, letter and proposal writing, solicitations, sponsorship development, both mainstream and Web2O marketing, event organization, logistics and more. Interns will report directly to the Executive Director. Internship will have a flexible schedule so as not to conflict with individual’s school schedule.
Candidates should be available to work a minimum of 8-20 hours per week and available for events that occur during that time period.
We are offering 4, 9 month internships, a limited number of interns will be taking for one semester only
Education: Education Intern can work in the Adult Education Department or in Youth Education Department.
Youth Education Intern serve the community through a variety of programs, including curriculum development, tours, offsite visits, drop-in weekend programs, and professional development seminars. Working with staff and museum partner organizations, interns work with the museum’s collections and resource library to develop programs, gallery guides, and education materials.
The Adult Education Interns work closely with program coordinators to produce classroom materials, coordinate speakers and/or guest teachers. They work with the museum staff on student recruitment and placement for both Green Enterprise Training Program, the Innovations Next Generation Lecture Series. Interns assist in all aspects of expanding the Museum’s local adult audiences through administrative support, programming, marketing, and logistical support.
Candidates should be available to work a minimum of 8-20 hours per week and available for events that occur during that time period.
Curatorial: Curatorial Internship will assist the staff with a variety of projects involving the museum, machine, watch, and primary source collections. The first is to inventory and catalog portions of the collection currently in storage, consisting principally of machines in manufacturing and the computer industry in the 18th to 20th centuries. He/She will be responsible for identifying these machines, assessing their condition, conducting object photography, and developing strategies for proper storage. He/She will utilize the museum Library and Archives as well as other industrial libraries and resources and will consult with the Executive Director about which objects may need conservation attention. The intern will then synthesize his/her research to make recommendations as to which objects are appropriate for display and which should be considered for possible decision.

Exhibit Design: Working with the museum staff and exhibit committee, exhibit design interns will design and implement temporary and permanent museum exhibits. Responsibilities may include researching artifacts, developing exhibit themes, writing exhibit scripts and labels, developing exhibit layout, producing graphics, scheduling instillation and more.
Interns must be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently. Written and verbal communication skills are a must. Some design experiences a plus. Students majoring in. Museum studies, English, history, art, graphic design, interior design, or architecture encouraged applying.
