One of
our most popular areas is the Machine Shop - a re-creation
of a production facility you might have seen in Waltham around
the turn of the last century. Overhead line shafting and pulleys
drive leather belts, which powers a variety of machine tools
- planer, shaper, miller, drill press, even a power hacksaw.
This isn't
just an exhibit. It's a working shop, which the museum's volunteers
use to conserve artifacts, repair parts, and dabble in their
own curious but original inventions. Stop by for a demonstration
and some good conversation.
