Getting Here
The museum is located under the smokestack in the historic Francis Cabot Lowell Mill apartment complex off Moody Street in Waltham, Massachusetts, just 10 miles from downtown Boston.
Warning to Visitors:
Avoid using GPS, computer mapping services, or even the street address, which can be most deceiving. Instead, follow the directions below. Remember: look for the smokestack!
Driving Directions
NB: In the museum vicinity, look for the small but well-posted buff-colored signs.
From the North or South: Take Interstate 95/Route 128 to exit 26 (Route 20 east) and proceed 1.6 miles. Just before Waltham Common turn right onto Moody St. Cross the river, turn left onto Pine St, and left onto Cooper St into the City of Waltham Municipal Parking Lot.
Parking
Park in the Waltham City Municipal Parking Lot on Pine Street behind the Embassy Theater. Find a parking place, buy a ticket from one of two ticket machines, and place the ticket on your dashboard. Follow the signs to the museum, crossing the footbridge, and turning right. The museum entrance is below the smokestack.
Please do not park at the museum’s back door. This is a restricted entrance, and parking here is by permit only. Your car may be towed.
Public Transportation
The museum is a short walk from the MBTA transit depot on Carter St. Bus 70/70A from Cambridge via Watertown runs all day long.
